One hot day in October of 2003 I looked out of the window and saw what looked to
be the beginnings of a terrible fire. It was later called the Overland fire. It
swept from Jamestown rapidly down Left Hand Canyon, crowning out as it went, all
the way to U.S. 36.
It seems that there is nothing like a natural disaster to bring out
photographers because to this day I still have never seen so many. I guess I
must be one of them as well because I spent most of the day and into the night
getting as many shots as I could and wishing I had a longer focal length lens
and a better tripod.
The image that you see is the first high quality image that I ever printed in a
large format. Though a very abstract image it is not a double exposure. If you
look closely at the background of the image you will see,,, I=m not saying
anything other than the image is a reflection of the smoke cloud. You'll just
have to interpret the image to be what you want it to be.
