Each and every day, each and every morning, each and every sunset is unique. The
clouds are always different. Water, it may be frozen, or there may be a slight
breeze causing ripples. A foot of snow may have fallen the night before, coating
branches in a layer of white. Early morning dew may coat the leaves of grass.
All of these factors seem rudimentary and self evident but it is all of these
factors that come into play and determine what images I get to work with.
“One Time” and “Symmetry” were taken on the same day at the same location. A
twenty minute time interval the only difference. “Symmetry” was taken just as
the sun was meeting the horizon, causing all of the shades of orange and red.
All of the pastel shades in “One Time” were from the earlier less direct rays of
light.
As a photographer working with light you become aware of all of these
variations. The world is constantly in change whether it is at the top of a
mountain or the center of a busy city. All of the activity in our lives seems to
dull our senses and make it difficult to see all of the really important
subtleties around us.
