"Ink" is another photograph that came out of the sessions with National
Geographic Photographer Frans Lanting in Bishop CA.
I had a difficult time titling this photograph. I eventually arrived at "Ink"
because it reminded me of a Rohrschach ink blot test. I've reached a place where
simplicity is driving not only the subject of the image but the title as well.
This photograph like "Curves" is an abstract of a bristlecone pine tree. All of
the vibrant gold colored yellows in this photograph are what jumped out to me on
first seeing this image. After studying this image for a while I've come to find
that it is darker black and brown lines, the "Ink", that makes the photograph
work for me.
On the right hand side of the image is a lighter area, if you look at it closely
you can see the shadow from a near by plant that falls into the image.
I've heard a number of comments about the shapes that the black lines form in
this photograph, but as with all images it is presented for you to come to your
own conclusions about.
