On the mornings when I go photograph everything is quiet and still, and the sky
has a very dark blue shade to it. If the moon is up it is the only light that I
have.
I never know what the light or the clouds are going to do and this often leads
to feelings of anticipation as I study the clouds and the horizon.
As the light begins to change and the bluish quality of the sky begins to
transform there is a quiet a "Hush" before the rapid transformation of light
begins. It's a dynamic quiet. It's almost a moment of silence. If you listen
very closely there is almost a whisper of "Be quiet and wait for the change."
That is what this photograph reminds me of. That very brief window of time where
the world seems to stand still.
I=m soon working with that dynamic swiftly changing light, moving around the
landscape framing photographs and releasing the shutter. But it=s that whisper
of silence that is one of the most enjoyable parts of the morning for me.
It wasn't until I saw this photograph printed in a larger format that I started
to appreciate it and come to understand it.
