I was really frustrated the day of this photograph. I was up early looking for
light, there was too much cloud cover to the East, and nothing much was
happening. I kept working with what was available but it wasn't what I wanted at
all. I was working with the moon and some branches and had decided to walk home
when I turned around. A slit at the horizon had opened all of this wonderful
color was pouring out. I rushed around trying to find something to put in the
foreground and came upon the drooping branches of a tree.
It=s the tension of this picture between the tree branch reaching out to grab
you like something from the "Wizard of Oz" and all of the amazing color in the
background that makes it work.
This photograph captured my mood between the excitement at seeing this new light
and the frustration of not being in a prepared place to photograph the light.
